As an enduring philanthropic leader in the Pacific Northwest, the Oregon Community Foundation (OCF) is responsible for $60 million in annual grants and scholarships, 1,600 individual funds and 1,500 volunteers. Communication with its vast audience is critical to the nonprofit group’s success in establishing permanent charitable funds across the state.
When OCF realized its current web site was falling behind the rapidly evolving needs of its constituents, the foundation engaged Tenrec to develop a more effective and inviting online resource for donors, applicants and staff.
Challenge
-
Expansive and deep content that was poorly presented and organized
-
Multiple staff members in remote locations needed to contribute and access content
-
A limited budget
Solution
Tenrec revitalized OCF’s web presence with a beautiful user interface and an organized, easy-to-navigate structure. Tenrec delivered:
New Content Management Tools–OCF’s web site now utilizes a custom, .NET-based content management system. The new CMS supports multiple admin users, expands the amount of content OCF staff can edit and provides new ways that the foundation can connect with donors, grant recipients, volunteers and staff.
Content Clean Up–Along with the new back-end architecture, Tenrec designed a streamlined, modern look for the site that aligned with OCF's new logo and identity. Tenrec enlisted the help of marcom writer Amy Spach and her firm AS Written Communications to edit and create content that clarified and unified the multiple voices across the site.
Stable and Secure Hosting–Tenrec hosts the OCF site in a redundant, clustered, PCI-compliant hosting environment. OCF and its auditors rest easy knowing that their web site resides on a robust, stable environment with advanced security measures that prevent attacks and minimize downtime.
Outcome
A compelling, functional site completed on budget that can grow with OCF for years to come.
The new site helps OCF reach a broader audience, promote its programs and target the precise needs of clients. Donors can now contribute online and visitors can register and pay for events through the web site. Grant applicants can more easily research and navigate OCF’s many offerings. And the content management system lets OCF do what it does best—communicate opportunities and strengthen communities across Oregon.
