Full-Stack WordPress Developer (USA Pacific)

Tenrec, Inc. is a website management agency that handles all aspects of our clients’ websites, from digital marketing and content strategy to performance, security, and highly capable technology solutions. “Your Website, Only Better,” is the promise we make.

We’re looking for a full-stack WordPress developer to join our West Coast USA development team. You will need an enthusiasm for building WordPress custom themes combined with a high level of technical skill spanning the full technology stack: HTML/CSS/JS, custom Gutenberg blocks, PHP, MySQL, and Git. We want someone who builds custom themes with slim, effective code, and demonstrates strong problem-solving skills.

We partner with some of the most respected law firms and professional services companies in the country. The caliber of our clients and the critical nature of their work require us to deliver at a high level. We strive for modern thought leadership, strict security, and high-performance coding. Our team consists of smart, action-oriented, reliable people who have fun doing great work for our clients.

Because you will be providing technical coverage for the West Coast, you must be available to work 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM Pacific Time. You will also be the primary technical contact for several client accounts, so native or expert-level English and strong, professional communication skills are just as key to your success at Tenrec as your technical qualifications.

If this sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you.

What You’ll Do

Your responsibilities will span the software development life-cycle, with a heavy focus on production and collaboration. This includes:

  • Working alongside our Front-End and DevOps leads to build, test, and deploy custom WordPress features and plugin integrations.
  • Actively leveraging AI-assisted coding and agentic workflows (like Cursor, Claude, or Copilot) to fast-track your output and problem-solving without sacrificing code integrity.
  • Collaborating in a group development environment with complete comfort in Git branch management, clean code reviews, and team Pull Request (PR) workflows.
  • Performing proactive maintenance, routine updates, and troubleshooting bugs on client sites.
  • Serving as the primary technical contact for assigned client accounts, translating development insights into clear, professional communications.

Hiring Strategy & Compensation

We use a 90-day Contract-to-Hire (C2H) structure. This serves as a practical, real-world trial period to evaluate day-to-day execution and team chemistry before a permanent full-time W2 transition.

  • Target Compensation: $80,000 – $90,000 annualized equivalent.
  • Contract Phase Rate: $50.00 – $55.00/hour during the 90-day trial (adjusted to offset non-benefit status).
  • W2 Conversion: Base salary is finalized within the target band upon full-time conversion, with a structured 6-month performance review where hitting specific role milestones will result in a base pay increase.
  • Benefits: We provide 15 days/year of PTO, holiday pay, matching retirement contributions and a monthly stipend for your health insurance premiums. We will also provide you with a laptop and a stipend for your connectivity and other home office expenses.

What We’re Looking For

  • 5 years of solid full-stack WordPress experience (PHP, JavaScript, Gutenberg, HTML, and modern CSS).
  • A modern development workflow. You are already utilizing Claude Code in your IDE to write, test, and troubleshoot code faster without compromising on quality.
  • Strict availability from 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM Pacific Time.
  • Native or expert-level English fluency.
  • High intellectual curiosity, personal accountability, and the critical thinking skills to manage high-caliber client requests.

To apply, please send your CV/resume and a cover letter to careers@tenrec.com.
